Dreams – P.AND.A.

“Dreams” began with a Stevie Wonder record courtesy of my boy Dash and my whack MIDI setup in my Northern California townhouse with 3 other roommates. Eye-Que came over, mid-sampling, and stayed through the rest of making the beat. By the time Dash and I finished, Eye-Que already had his 16 bars ready to record. Meanwhile Dash has been playing with melodies and going off off Eye-Que’s idea went with the theme of ‘following dreams.’

Feeling the pressure, I wrote a verse and began preparation for recording. Back then recording was putting my $100 microphone in the closet and draping clothes around it for dampening. The trained ear can hear the tight space effect on the bare a capella vocal tracks. The track (as it appeared on Just Cubs) was re-recorded at Dash’s home studio weeks later.

The version you hear now is from the original vocal tracks from my apartment room recorded in February 2008.  I remixed the music in the fall of 2009 and it first appeared on my free album Beautiful Connections. Recently, I remastered it and viola… I present to you for the 4th time, “Dreams!”
